Advocacy Effort Backing Direct Support Professionals

For over forty-five years Hinkle Prior & Fischer, Attorneys at Law, has supported and advanced the interests of individuals with disabilities and their families. We want to make our clients aware of a vital advocacy campaign championed by The Arc of New Jersey Family Institute and the Coalition for a DSP Living Wage along with many other major disability groups.

This fundamental issue affects the overwhelming majority of our clients. Direct Support Professionals (“DSPs”) are the men and women who provide service, training, assistance and care to our sons, daughters, brothers and sisters every day. Over the years, government funding for these professionals’ wage increases has not kept pace with other industries. As a result, DSPs are leaving human services for higher paying jobs with fewer demands. Agencies which serve people with disabilities are having an increasingly difficult time finding qualified employees. This directly impacts the quality of the care and service provided to individuals with disabilities.

Hinkle Prior & Fischer asks you to take action now and let Governor Murphy know how important this issue is to you. Please click on the link below, print out a letter to the Governor, and mail it today. It is imperative the Governor hears from you around the Thanksgiving holiday.
